Robert A. Butler
Robert A. Butler is a man of many passions and endeavors. As a joint owner of several car dealerships across the Indiana area with his father, Robert G. Butler, the Butlers run Butler Auto Group. Just like his father, he believes in the power of family and giving back to the community.
Upon graduating Ball State University in Muncie, Robert wasn’t sure he wanted to follow his father’s footsteps into the family business right away. So, with the guidance of his dad, he entered into multiple ventures with his childhood friend–establishing both a car rental and boating store in the area. After years of operation, the businesses ran their course and closed. What could be taken as negative to some, they instead treated the experience as a lesson in business as they both shifted to Butler Auto Group in the late ‘90s.
Butler Auto Group
Once in the family business, Robert A. Butler readily embraced the ethics and principles he began learning about as a child. From the outside, Butler Auto Group may appear to be another dealership–but that’s far from the case.
What makes Butler Auto Group is a combination of family and community that the younger generation of Butlers continue to carry on with. With low turnover and multiple employees working at the company for decades, Butler Auto Group prides itself on being an accessible company where any employee can speak with either of the owners, or anyone else they need.
In addition to treating their own like family, Butler Auto Group embraces community endeavors of several varieties that benefit parents and children. These endeavors include over a decade of dealer matching programs for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and Riley Children’s Foundation that sees $10,000 in donations to both causes each year. Additionally, Butler is proud to support Alternatives shelters–one of the few domestic abuse shelters that doesn’t turn a person away–by offering safe trick or treating for children, as well as donating a minivan for those children to attend school and weekend activities. Butler Auto Group furthers its endeavors by supporting Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key to the Cure, Toyota’s Hole in One Program as well as local school events.
When it comes to providing vehicles, Robert and Butler Auto Group take immense pride in providing the state of Indiana with a diverse array of incredible vehicles. This year, Nuvo Magazine readers voted both Butler Hyundai and Butler Toyota Scion “Best of Indy.” These accolades serve as incredible achievements as Butler Auto Group strives to provide the community with the best service and vehicles possible.
Recently, Robert A. Butler fulfilled a personal dream come true to his father when Alfa Romeo re-entered the U.S. market. Previously, his father owned an Alfa Romeo dealership during its last U.S. tenure, but lost the business as the manufacturer shuttered U.S. sales. By bringing the sports car back into the Butler fold, Robert reunites his father with one of his favorite vehicles. As the senior of the Butlers heads into the later years of his career, his son ensured that his dad and Butler Auto Group remains an Alfa Romeo dealer.
When not working, Robert A. Butler is an avid music enthusiast–supporting the local and global scenes–as well as fishing and traveling.
